Devel® Fabric Expansion Joint (Belt Type)
High-Density Multi-Layer Flexible Solutions for Heavy Condensate & Corrosive Gas Ducts
1. Product Introduction
The Devel® Belt Type Fabric Expansion Joint consists of advanced Fluorelastomer or Fluoroplastic composite materials internally reinforced with high-strength fabric or metallic wire mesh. Engineered specifically for industrial duct lines with high concentrations of condensed fluids and aggressive chemical environments, these multi-layer expansion joints provide exceptional density, superior structural integrity, and maximum resistance against chemical permeation.
2. System Construction & Components
- A. Multi-Layer Flexible Element: Built with single or multi-layered technical plies, including an engineered gas seal membrane (acting as a critical barrier against chemical attack and gas permeability), high-density thermal insulation, and robust reinforcing members.
- B. Flange Area Reinforcement: To isolate and protect the core flexible elements from direct contact with rigid steel parts, an additional targeted reinforcement layer is integrated into the flange clamping area.
- C. Heavy-Duty Back-up Bars: The flexible belt is securely clamped to the duct steel frame using rigid back-up bars. Bar specifications (width, thickness, and pitch between drill-holes) are strictly tailored to the specific expansion joint type and field operating conditions.
- D. Precision Fasteners: Optimum, uniform clamping force across the sealing surface is achieved using high-grade bolts along with heavy-duty nuts and washers.
- E. Structured Ductwork Steel Frame: Acts as a rugged flanged support structure. The frames are custom-configured to various geometries based on specialized operating demands. Internal sleeves or baffles can be incorporated to safeguard the flexible element and insulation bolster from turbulent flows, abrasive solid particles, and high-velocity gas erosion.
- F. Internal Insulation Bolster: Serves as a technical “pillow” packed with premium insulating material. It shields the outer flexible belt against extreme temperatures and mechanical damage from high-velocity, particulate-laden turbulent media while significantly dampening acoustic noise.
